FH-Cluster for implementing e-learning-strategies and –activities at Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences
This strategy project is carried out by nine Austrian Universities of Applied Aciences, who located similarities in their individual e-learning-strategies in their organisations. These similarities are bundled and a collective strategy will be worked out. The main topics of this bundled strategy are in the field of platforms, content exchange, training courses for lecturers and students and aspects of gender mainstreaming in e-learning. The total project communication is handled through an open-source-platform.

For Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences it is hard to achieve the critical mass of users in order to develop stand alone solutions in the field of e-learning. The proposal of the Austrian ministry of education built up the framework for a cooperation of nine Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences to develop together a combined approach to the most important topics in the field of sustainable implementation of e-learning at their organisations. The topics are the combination of learning content management systems and administration framework with the goal of “one single point of contact for all users”, the exchange of learning materials without any charges, the comparison of competence profiles of learners and lecturers in order to provide better teaching and over all the aspects of gender mainstreaming in e-learning. In the first year of the project, the concepts of the common strategy in these five topics are developed and then implemented at each partner organisation in the second project year. The total project communication is done via an open-source-learning-platform, called “moodle”.
